Front Fender Replacement DeVille

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper .
  2. Remove the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  3. Remove the engine compartment fuse and relay center closeout panel.
  4. Remove the wheelhouse assembly. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  5. Remove the rocker panel molding. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  6. Remove the hood panel. Refer to Hood Replacement .

  8. Remove the 2 bolts that retain the fender (2) at the rocker panel.
  9. Remove the 2 bolts that retain the fender (2) at the fascia guide.
  10. Remove the nut that retains the fender (2) to the front door hinge pillar.
  11. Remove the 6 bolts from the outer rail (4).
  12. Remove the fender (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the fender (2) to the body.
  2. Install the 6 bolts to the outer rail (4).
  3. Install the nut to the front door hinge pillar.
  4. Install the 2 bolts to the fascia guide.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Refer to Sheet Metal Tolerances in Frame and Underbody.

  6. Install the 2 bolts that retain the fender at the rocker panel.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts and the nut to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  8. Install the hood panel and the pivot bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  10. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement .
  11. Install the rocker panel molding. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  12. Install the wheelhouse assembly. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  13. Install the fuse and relay center closeout panel.
  14. Install the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  15. Install the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper .

Front Fender Replacement Eldorado

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper .
  2. Remove the engine compartment fuse and relay center cover.
  3. Remove the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  4. Remove the bumper fascia extension. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement in Bumpers.
  5. Remove the wheelhouse assembly. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  6. Install the wheel opening molding.
  7. Install the fender sound insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement .
  8. Remove the rocker panel molding. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  9. Support the hood. Remove the 2 screws that retain the hood hinge to the fender.

  11. Remove the 2 bolts that retain the fender at the rocker panel.
  12. Remove the 2 bolts that retain the fender to the fascia sliding mount.
  13. Remove the 5 bolts that retain the fender to the outer rail (3).
  14. Remove the fender (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the fender (1) to the body.
  2. Install the 5 bolts that retain the fender (1) to the outer rail (3).
  3. Install the 2 bolts that retain the fender (1) to the fascia sliding mount bolts.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   5. Install the 2 bolts that retain the fender (1) at the rocker panel.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  7. Position the hood hinge to the fender and install the 2 screws.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12   (106 lb in).

  9. Install the rocker panel. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  10. Install the fender sound insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement .
  11. Place the outboard edge of the insulator rearward so that the insulator contacts the upper fender reinforcement.

  12. Install the wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  13. Install the bumper fascia extension. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement .
  14. Install the wheel opening molding.
  15. Install the headlamp housing. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  16. Install the engine compartment fuse and relay center cover.
