The striker in the hood panel is large enough to allow normal fore and aft adjustment. Cross vehicle adjustment is provided at the front end sheet metal support to the radiator support tie bar. Loosen the 2 screws that retain the latch to the support in order to provide up and down adjustment.

Ensure that the proper alignment is obtained before you tighten the mounting screws under the following circumstances:

    • The hood latch (2) is removed
    • The mounting screws are loosened
    • The hood adjustment is changed

Use the following procedure in order to obtain proper cross vehicle adjustment of the of the primary latch:

  1. Loosen the attaching screws.
  2. Slowly lower the hood onto the latch.
  3. Raise the hood.
  4. Tighten the screws.

Failure to use this procedure may result in the following conditions:

    • Damage to the latch
    • Excessive release handle efforts due to misalignment when the hood is closed.

Lower the hood to a resting position on the primary latch and close the hood securely.
