  1. Place the key in the ignition.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Open the left front door.

Do the interior lamps turn on?

  1. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  2. Use the body control module (PZM) data list inputs function on the scan tool.
  3. Observe the state of the left front door jamb switch input.

Is the input on with the left front door open and off with the door closed?

Perform the body control module (PZM) Diagnostic System Check.

Did you perform the inspection?

  1. Disconnect the left front door jamb switch connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper across the switch connector terminal A and terminal D.

Is the left front door jamb switch scan tool input ON?

Inspect the left front door jamb switch connector for poor terminal contact.

Is the connector terminal contact OK?

Repair the switch connector terminal contact. Refer to Repairing Connector Terminals in Wiring Systems.

Replace the left front door jamb switch. Refer to Door Jamb Switch Replacement in Doors.

Connect a fused jumper from the left front door jamb switch connector terminal A to ground.

Does the switch operate?

Repair the open in CKT 126 (TAN). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the poor terminal contact at the body control module (PZM) connector terminal A. Refer to Repairing Connector Terminals in Wiring Systems.

Is the left front door jamb switch scan tool input ON?

Repair the open in CKT 51 (BLK/WHT). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  2. Select the instrument panel cluster (IPC) data list inputs function on the scan tool.
  3. Place the ignition key in the ignition switch.

Is the scan tool input ON?

Perform the IPC Diagnostic System Check.

  1. Disconnect the IPC connectors.
  2. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to inspect the resistance from the IPC connector C2 terminal B7 to ground.

Does the resistance measure less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Inspect the IPC connector for poor terminal contact.

Is the terminal contact OK?

Use the J 39200 DMM and the appropriate terminal test adapters in order to backprobe C202 from terminal A13 to ground.

Does the resistance measure less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Repair the open CKT 80 (LT GRN) between the IPC connector C2 terminal B7 and C202. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Use a J 39200 DMM and the appropriate test adapters in order to backprobe C202 from terminal A14 to ground.

Does the resistance measure less than the specified value?

5 ohms
