Removal Procedure

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .

    3. Object Number: 310639 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the sunload (2) and the twilight (3) sensors from the defroster grille (1) by turning a quarter turn.

    4. Object Number: 493867 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the twilight sensor from the IP harness.
  5. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the sunload sensor electrical connector.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 493867 Size: SH
  1. Connect the sunload sensor electrical connector.
  2. Install the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  3. Install the twilight sensor to the IP harness.

    4. Object Number: 310639 Size: SH
  4. Install the sensors (2,3) to the defroster grille (1) by turning a quarter turn.
  5. Install the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
