Circuit Description

The IPC monitors the steering wheel control convenience keys (switches) input at the IPC connector C2 terminal B11. The IPC interprets the switch commands and issues the appropriate class 2 message.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The IPC determines that one or more of the following switches is active for more than 5 seconds:

    • VOLUME UP
    • VOLUME DOWN
    • SELECT UP
    • SELECT DOWN

Diagnostic Aids

  1. Inspect the steering wheel touch controls for one of the following conditions:
  2. • Binding
    • Sticking
    • Broken
  3. Each steering wheel control key (switch) has a unique counts value. Measure these counts with the following procedure:
  4. 2.1. Connect a scan tool.
    2.2. Press each switch and view the steering wheel controls data list parameter.
    2.3. Use the table below for the correct value.
  5. Each steering wheel control key (switch) has a unique resistance. Measure these resistance values with the following procedure:
  6. 3.1. Disconnect C202.
    3.2. Connect a DMM to the steering column harness terminals A1 and A4.
    3.3. Press each key and measure the resistance.
    3.4. Use the table below for the correct value.
