Dimmer Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle Column Shift

Tools Required

J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture

1. The turn signal switch assembly must be in the "UP" position.

Important: The column must be in the 12 o'clock position.

To align the steering shaft assembly to the 12 o'clock position. Turn the key to the OFF position. Pull the key out and turn the steering shaft until a clicks.



2. Put the steering column in J 41352 .
3. Remove the wire harness assembly out of the wire harness strap (1).
4. Check steering column for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection - Off Vehicle .



5. Disconnect the dimmer switch connector from the dimmer switch assembly (3).
6. Remove the hexagon nut (5) from the dimmer switch assembly (4).
7. Remove the dimmer switch rod (2).
8. Remove the torx washer head screw (1).
9. Remove the dimmer switch assembly (3).
10. Remove the dimmer switch mounting stud (5).

1. The turn signal switch assembly must be in the "UP" position.

Important: The column must be in the 12 o'clock position.

To align the steering shaft assembly to the 12 o'clock position. Turn the key to the off/lock position. Pull the key out and turn the steering shaft untill you hear a click.



2. Put the steering column in J 41352 .
3. Pop the wire harness assembly out of the wire harness strap (1).
4. Check steering column for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection - Off Vehicle .



5. Disconnect the dimmer switch connector from the dimmer switch assembly (2).
6. Remove the hexagon nut (4) from the ignition switch assembly (1).
7. Remove the dimmer switch rod (5).
8. Remove the torx washer head screw (3).
9. Remove the dimmer switch assembly (2).
