Causes

A high lock effort exists.

    • A damaged lock cylinder
    • A damaged ignition switch
    • A broken rack preload spring
    • A deformed rack preload spring
    • Burrs on the following components:
       - Sector
       - Rack
       - Housing
       - Support or actuator rod coupling
    • A bent sector shaft
    • A damaged rack
    • An extreme misalignment of the housing to cover
    • A distorted coupling slot in the rack
    • A damaged actuator rod
    • A bent ignition switch mounting bracket
    • A restricted actuator rod
    • A damaged key cut
    • An incorrect key cut
    • An incorrectly adjusted park lock cable
    • Damaged park lock components
