Camshaft Cover Removal Left

Tools Required

J 38825 Water Pump Drive Pulley Remover


    Object Number: 315078  Size: SH
  1. Remove the water pump drive belt shield retaining bolt (2) and nuts (3).
  2. Remove the water pump drive belt shield (1).

  3. Object Number: 52983  Size: SH
  4. Remove the water pump drive belt (4) by compressing the belt tensioner (3) while sliding the belt off the drive pulley (1) and the water pump pulley (2).

  5. Object Number: 350285  Size: SH
  6. Remove the water pump drive belt tensioner retaining bolts (2) from the tensioner.
  7. Remove the water pump drive belt tensioner (1) from the water crossover.

  8. Object Number: 331283  Size: SH
  9. Remove the end cap (3) from the intake camshaft (1).

  10. Object Number: 52984  Size: SH
  11. Remove the water pump drive pulley from the intake camshaft using theJ 38825 .

  12. Object Number: 331848  Size: SH
  13. Remove the camshaft seal retaining screws.
  14. Slide the seal off the end of the camshaft.
  15. Important: DO NOT reuse the camshaft seal.

  16. Loosen the camshaft cover bolts.

  17. Object Number: 53236  Size: SH
  18. Lift up the front of the cover approximately 10 inches.

  19. Object Number: 53237  Size: SH
  20. Lift the rear exhaust edge up against the oil level indicator tube while holding the front suspended.

  21. Object Number: 53238  Size: SH
  22. Swing the front of the cover over the intake manifold while sliding the entire cover over the end of the camshaft.
  23. The camshaft cover seals (perimeter and sparkplug) should be reused unless they are damaged or if the perimeter seal is pulled from its groove during removal.

    Object Number: 53218  Size: SH
  1. Remove the camshaft cover bolts.
  2. Lift the camshaft cover from the cylinder head.
  3. The camshaft cover seals (perimeter and sparkplug) should be reused unless they are damaged or if the perimeter seal is pulled from its groove during removal.
