Removal Procedure
- Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in
Automatic Transmission.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Remove thirteen oil pan
bolts and remove the pan.
- The gasket is reusable unless damaged. Do not remove the gasket
from the oil pan groove unless replacement is required.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new oil pan
seal if required by starting the seal into the pan groove and working the
seal into the groove in both directions. Once the seal is exposed to
the oil it will expand and no longer stay in the groove without wrinkles.
If this condition exists, replace it with a new seal.
- Position the oil pan to the crankcase.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install thirteen
oil pan bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the oil pan bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in)
in sequence shown.
- Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in
Automatic Transmission.
- Refill the engine oil.
