SUBJECT: CLUNK OR RATTLE AT LEFT FRONT CORNER OF CAR (DIAGNOSE/REPLACE OR SECURE RETURN LINE)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 "E, K, V" MODELS

Some 1992 Cadillac Eldorados, Sevilles, and Allantes may experience a clunk or rattle condition at the left front corner of the car due to the power steering left-hand return line contacting the transaxle case.

To repair this condition inspect the left-hand return line. If the return line shows wear as a result of the contact, it should be replaced per Service Information Manual procedures in Section 3B. If no wear is evident, secure the left-hand return line to the cradle just forward of the left transaxle mount with a plastic tie strap as shown in Figure 1. If the left-hand return line is replaced, the new line should be secured to the frame with a plastic tie strap.

For vehicles repaired under warranty use:

Left-hand return line - replace E8625 0.8 hour (Eldorados and Sevilles) 0.6 hour (Allantes)
