FUEL GAGE INACCURATE INSTALL NEW CLUSTER PROM

SUBJECT: FUEL GAUGE INACCURATE (INSTALL NEW CLUSTER PROM)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 CADILLAC ELDORADO (E) SEVILLE (K)

Some owners of 1992 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with analog or digital cluster may comment on fuel gage inaccuracy.

This condition may be caused by the fuel gauge calibration PROM (software) which understates the fuel amount remaining in the tank.

Parts Required Cluster Type (PROM) ------------ -------------- Analog 16179547 Digital 16179550

To correct this condition use the following procedure:

1. Enter diagnostics, record the IPC PROM I.D. (ID99).

If the analog cluster PROM I.D. is 9548 or the digital cluster PROM I.D. is 9552, refer to "Fuel Gage Inoperable/ Improper" in Section 8Cl of the 1992 Eldorado/Seville Service Information Manual.

If the analog cluster PROM I.D. is not 9548 or the digital cluster PROM I.D. is not 9552, remove the cluster from I/P per Section 8C of the Service Information Manual and:

a. For analog cluster order PROM, P/N 16179547.

b. For digital cluster order PROM, P/N 16179550.

2. Install new cluster PROM. Refer to Figure 1.

3. Reinstall the cluster per Section 8C of the Service Information Manual.

For vehicles repaired under warranty use .6 hour.
