LUMBAR MOTORS CAUSE NOISE INSTALL NEW LUMBAR MOTORS

SUBJECT: NOISY LUMBAR MOTORS (INSTALL NEW LUMBAR MOTORS)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 CADILLAC ELDORADO AND SEVILLE

Some 1992 Eldorados and Sevilles may display a condition where the lumbar motors are perceived too noisy. This condition may be caused by the high output of the motors. To repair this condition use the following procedure:

1. Remove seat from vehicle. Refer to Section 10-10 of the Eldorado/Seville 1992 Service Information Manual.

2. Remove seat back cover from seat back assembly by releasing J retainer at bottom of seat back and disengaging all hook and loop tie downs. Refer to Figures 1 and 2.

3. Remove foam bun from seat assembly.

4. Remove cardboard back of seat assembly by removing the six plastic fasteners.

5. Disengage cables from upper and lower gear boxes in centre of lumbar by squeezing end with pliers and pulling. Refer to Figure 3.

6. Unplug wire connectors from lumbar motors.

7. Remove the two screws on each side of frame that attach lumbar motors.

8. Discard motors and cables.

9. Install two new lumbar motors, P/N 16730075, and two new cables, P/N 16730662, the same as original motors and cables were installed.

10. Reverse steps 1-4 to reinstall seat.

For vehicles repaired under warranty use Labour Time 1.0 hour for the left seat and 1.0 hr. for the right seat.
