Some 1992 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with analog or digital cluster may experience fuel gage reading inaccuracy.
This condition may be caused by the fuel gauge calibration PROM (software) which understates the fuel amount remaining in the tank.
Parts Required Cluster Type (PROM) ------------ -------------- Analog 16179547 DigitaT 16179550
To correct this condition use the following procedure:
1. Enter diagnostics, record the IPC PROM I.D. (ID99). If the analog cluster PROM I.D. is 9548 or the digital cluster PROM I.D. is 9552, refer to "Fuel Gage Inoperable/Improper" in Section 8C1 of the 1992 Eldorado/Seville Service Information Manual.
If the analog cluster PROM I.D. is not 9548 or the digital cluster PROM I.D. is not 9552, remove cluster from I/P per Section 8C of the Service Information Manual and:
a. For analog cluster order PROM, P/N 16179547, from GMSPO.
b. For digital cluster order PROM, P/N 16179550, from GMSPO.
2. Install new cluster PROM. Refer to Figure 1.
3. Reinstall the cluster per Section 8C of the Service Information Manual.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
