Some 1992 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with the full console (option D5 may have a loose radio trim plate. The radio trim plate is designed to be retained by its "skin lock" feature in which the trim plate i's held in position by friction between the console vinyl skin around the radio opening and the lip on the outer surface of the trim plate.
If the trim plate is loose or appears to protrude too far rearward, check for proper positioning of the radio control head as described below:
1. Remove radio trim plate by carefully pulling it straight out of the radio opening as shown in Figure 1.
2. Remove console trim plate by disengaging its five clips. Position trim plate out of the way to gain access to the two radio mounting nuts under the radio. Refer to Figure 1.
3. Loosen, but do not remove, the radio mounting nuts. Position the radio as far forward as possible in its mounting bracket. Be sure that the radio is mounted squarely to the instrument panel.
If the radio seems to bind or cock in the instrument panel opening, pull the radio rearward out of the bracket to gain access to the radio harness. Reposition harness so that the radio can be positioned in the bracket without interference.
4. While holding the radio forward, tighten the two mounting nuts.
5. Install the console trim plate and radio trim plate.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
