Some owners of 1992 Eldorados and Sevilles and 1993 Allantes may comment that the accelerator pedal feels off angle or is too far forward. This condition may be caused by the position of the accelerator pedal bracket.
To correct this condition use the following procedure:
1. Remove lower accelerator pedal mounting bracket screw and discard. Refer to Figure 1.
2. Use a screwdriver to pry the accelerator bracket away from the dash panel. Install a 7mm thick shim or washer between the lower mounting bracket and the front of dash mounting pad. Refer to Figure 1.
3. Install a longer screw, 10mm hex with flat washer, (M6.3 x 1.81 x 20).
For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6659 at .2 hour.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
