A/C COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE HOSE MISROUTED

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 ELDORADO AND SEVILLE

Some 1987 Eldorados built after VIN 612130 and Sevilles after VIN 813492 may have the A/C discharge hose misrouted over the retaining bracket as shown in Figure 1. To prevent potential hose damage, vehicles with this condition should have the discharge hose correctly rerouted as illustrated in Figure 2.

- If the discharge hose is undamaged but the corrugated plastic rub through protector is melted, rotate the plastic protector so that an undamaged portion is in contact with the retaining bracket after rerouting the discharge hose as shown in Figure 2.

- If the discharge hose is damaged, replace the compressor hose assembly and route the new hose under the retaining bracket as shown in Figure 2.

For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation T6252 at .2 hour to reroute the A/C discharge hose. If replacement of the A/C compressor hose assembly is required, use Labor Operation D3088 at .6 hour plus add time of .5 hour to evacuate and charge A/C system.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
