Tools Required

J 22610 Keystone Clamp Pliers

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
3. Remove the outer tie rod. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .



4. Remove the hex jam nut (2) from the inner tie rod assembly.



5. Remove the tie rod end clamp (2) from the rack and pinion boot (1).
6. Remove the rack and pinion boot clamp from the rack and pinion boot.



7. Remove the rack and pinion boot from the rack and pinion gear assembly.

1. Install the rack and pinion boot (3) to the rack and pinion gear assembly.
2. Install a new rack and pinion boot clamp.
3. Using J 22610 , crimp the rack and pinion boot clamp.



4. Install the tie rod end clamp (2) from the rack and pinion boot (1).



5. Install the hex jam nut (2) to the inner tie rod assembly.
6. Install the outer tie rod. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .
7. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
8. Lower the Vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
9. Adjust front toe. Refer to Front Toe Adjustment in Wheel Alignment.
