Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 696033  Size: SH
  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle to catch the power steering fluid.
  2. Remove the power steering pressure hose (1) from the power steering pump.
  3. Remove the power steering pressure hose retaining nut (2) from the front of the engine.

  4. Object Number: 696040  Size: SH
  5. Remove the master cylinder retaining nuts and position the master cylinder (2) six inches away from the hydro boost unit.
  6. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the hydro boost unit.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  8. Object Number: 696037  Size: SH
  9. Remove the fastener (1) holding the power steering pressure hose to the frame.
  10. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 696037  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pressure hose to the vehicle.
  2. Using the fastener (1) install the power steering pressure hose to the frame.
  3. Lower the vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 696028  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the power steering pressure hose to the hydro boost unit.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose to the hydro boost unit to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  7. Position the master cylinder to the hydro boost unit.
  8. Install the retaining nuts to the master cylinder
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the master cylinder retaining nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  10. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pressure pump.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  12. Install the power steering retaining nut to the front of the engine.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose retaining nut to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  14. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
