Rear Compartment Support Brace Replacement - Left Side DeVille
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
or
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement

- Remove the nut that retains
the lower portion of the diagonal brace to the vehicle.
- Loosen the nut that retains the upper portion of the diagonal
brace.
- Remove the brace from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the brace.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nuts
to the lower and the upper portion of the diagonal brace.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 17 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Install the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to

Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear compartment
trim panel. Refer to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Disconnect the electrical connector to the fuel filler solenoid.
- Remove the fuel filler door release solenoid.
- Remove the nut that retains the lower portion of the diagonal
brace to the vehicle.
- Loosen the nut that retains the upper portion of the diagonal
brace.
- Remove the brace from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the brace.

Tighten the nuts to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the fuel filler solenoid.
- Connect the electrical connector.
