The lock release of the rear compartment lid allows the unlocking of the lid from the inside of the vehicle by a switch located in the passenger compartment or from the outside of the vehicle by the oval key.

The lock release of the rear compartment lid consists of an actuator and a single wire harness. The harness extends from the switch to the rear compartment lid. The harness connects to the release actuator mechanism.

Pressing the switch energizes the release actuator coil. The release pulls backward and unlatches the rear compartment lid lock. The lid then raises, allowing the manual raising of the lid to the full open position.

An internal circuit breaker protects the entire actuator assembly against overheating and internal shorts.
