Fuel Tank Filler Door Lock Actuator Replacement DeVille
Removal Procedure
- Remove the nut retaining the latch from the pocket.
- Remove the rear compartment trim. Refer to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
or to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the grommet and
latch (1) from the wheelhouse.
- Remove the bolts (2).
- Disconnect the wire connector from the actuator (4).
- Remove the fuel filler door release actuator (4).
Installation Procedure
- Install the latch and
grommet (1) through the hole in the wheelhouse.
Align the latch with the rib on the fuel pocket.
- Install the nut in order to retain the latch (1) to the
pocket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Adjust the latch (1)
in order to bring the door flush with the body.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 3 N·m (26.5 lb in).
- Install the fuel filler door release actuator (4) to the
bracket.
- Attach the actuator (4) to the latch (1).
- Install the bolts (2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Connect the wire connector to the actuator (4).
Important: The manual release handle of the fuel filler door must be visible in
the cargo area through the slit in the rear compartment trim.
- Install the rear compartment trim. Refer to

Removal Procedure
