  1. Place the transaxle in the PARK position.
  2. Turn the valet switch OFF.
  3. Connect the Scan Tool .
  4. Press the fuel door release switch.

Does the body control module (PZM) turn on the fuel door release?

  1. Disconnect the fuel door release relay center #3.
  2. Connect a test lamp between terminal D7 and ground, and terminal D9 to ground.

Does the test lamp light at both terminals?

Go to Step 4

  1. Connect the test lamp between terminal D7 and terminal D9.
  2. Press the fuel door release switch.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a fused jumper between terminal D9 and terminal C7.

Does the fuel door open?

Replace the fuel door release relay.

Does the fuel door release operate properly?

Observe the Scan Tool .

Does the PZM indicate that the valet switch is OFF?

Using the Scan Tool , observe the status of the park neutral position switch.

Does the status show that the vehicle is in PARK?

  1. Inspect the PARK NEUTRAL position switch and any related circuits.
  2. Perform any necessary repairs.

  1. Disconnect the valet switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from valet switch connector terminal A to ground.
  3. Observe the Scan Tool .

Does the PZM indicate that the valet switch is OFF?

  1. Inspect CKT 151 (BLK) for an open. Repair the circuit, if necessary.
  2. If CKT 151 is OK, replace the valet lockout switch.

Does the fuel door release operate properly?

  1. Inspect CKT 1355 (DK BLU/WHT) for an open. Repair the circuit, if necessary.
  2. If CKT 1355 is OK, replace the valet lockout switch.

Repair the open or the short to ground in one of the following circuits:

    • CKT 40 (ORN)
    • CKT 2040 (ORN)

  1. Inspect CKT 93 for an open. Repair the circuit, if necessary.
  2. If CKT 93 is OK, replace the PZM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

  1. Verify that the fused jumper is still connected.
  2. Disconnect the fuel door release solenoid.
  3. Connect a test lamp between terminal A and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Verify that the fused jumper is still connected.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the fuel door release solenoid terminal A and terminal B.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Verify that the fuel door release solenoid connector is clean and tight.
  2. If the connector is OK, replace the fuel door release solenoid.
