Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover Replacement Eldorado

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the shoulder belt guide fastener, if equipped.
  2. Remove the shoulder belt guide, if equipped.
  3. Remove the front seat. Refer to Seat Replacement .
  4. Tilt the seat forward.
  5. Open the seat back cover zipper.
  6. Remove the manual recliner lever knob.
  7. Pull the heated seat back wiring up through the cushion cover.

  8. Object Number: 401680  Size: SH
  9. Carefully release the seat back cover from the pad.
  10. Invert the cover as you go upward.
  11. Raise the headrest fully upward.
  12. Lower the headrest approximately 7 mm (1/4 in).

  13. Object Number: 398504  Size: SH
  14. Insert a small tool or a paper clip into the hole at the rear side of the head restraint post.
  15. Release the retainer (2) from the detent by pushing the tool downward.
  16. Pull the head restraint upward.
  17. Remove the head restraint.
  18. Carefully release the remainder of the seat back cover from the pad.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the seat back cover on the seat back.

  2. Object Number: 401680  Size: SH
  3. Carefully pull the cover down over the pad.

  4. Object Number: 315302  Size: SH
  5. Apply a 13 mm (1/2 in) bead of GM P/N 12377914 or Special Bostik Glue in the first top horizontal channel.
  6. Use a 138°C (360°F) hot glue gun.

  7. Carefully place the trim cover down over the foam in order to ensure that the trim cover seam is positioned into the glue trench within 30 seconds of the glue application.
  8. Pull the trim cover down:
  9. • Use a straight edge of the same length as the glued seam.
    • Apply downward pressure (1-4 psi).
    • Hold the trim cover for 1 minute.
  10. Pull the trim cover down:
  11. • Use 2 straight edges of the same length as the seams.
    • Apply downward pressure (1-4 psi).
    • Hold the trim cover for 1 minute.
  12. Lift the trim cover.
  13. Apply a 13 mm (1/2 in) bead of glue in the final channel.

  14. Pull the trim cover down:
  15. • Use 2 straight edges (1) of the same length as the seams.
    • Apply downward pressure (1-4 psi).
    • Hold the trim cover for 1 minute.
  16. Install the head restraint.
  17. Push downward on the head restraint in order to lock the head restraint into position.

  18. Install the heated seat back wiring.
  19. Install the manual recliner lever knob.
  20. Close the seat back cover zipper.
  21. Tilt the seat fully upright.
  22. Install the front seat. Refer to Seat Replacement .
  23. Install the shoulder belt guide and the belt guide fastener, if equipped.
