DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the lumbar support (option AL2) in the left and the right seat. The diagnosis does not include the left seat if the left seat is equipped with the memory function (option A45). For diagnosis of the lumbar support in the left seat equipped with A45, refer to Lumbar Support System Check .

Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar vertical relay connector from cavity C (RED) to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar vertical relay connector from cavity C (RED) to cavity D (BLK).

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Place the lumbar switch in the UP position.
  2. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar vertical relay connector from cavity A (RED) to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Place the lumbar switch in the DOWN position.
  2. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar vertical relay connector from cavity F (YEL) to ground.

  1. Place the lumbar switch in the UP position.
  2. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar vertical relay connector from cavity B (TAN) (LH) or B (PNK) (RH) to ground.

  1. Place the lumbar switch in the DOWN position.
  2. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar vertical relay connector from cavity E (PPL) (LH) or E (ORN) (RH) to ground.

Inspect for an open or short to ground in CKT 768 (TAN or TAN/WHT) (LH) or CKT 793 (PNK or TAN/WHT) (RH) between the lumbar vertical relay and the lumbar vertical motor. Refer to Testing for Continuity or Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is the wiring OK?

Inspect for an open or short to ground in CKT 767 (PPL or PPL/WHT) (LH) or CKT 792 (ORN or PPL/WHT) (RH) between the lumbar vertical relay and the lumbar vertical motor. Refer to Testing for Continuity or Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is the wiring OK?

Replace the lumbar vertical motor. Refer to Front Seat Lumbar Support Replacement .

Repair the open in CKT 742 (RED) between S352 (LH) or S356 (RH) and the lumbar vertical relay. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 850 (BLK) between S351 (LH) or S357 (RH) and the lumbar vertical relay. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for an open or short to ground in CKT 387 (RED) (LH) or CKT 756 (RED) (RH) between the lumbar switch and the lumbar vertical relay. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground or Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for an open or short to ground in CKT 386 (YEL) (LH) or CKT 757 (YEL) (RH) between the lumbar switch and the lumbar vertical relay. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground or Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.
