1. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3. Select the powertrain control module (PCM) on the scan tool.
4. Inspect for PCM DTC's.

No PCM DTCs appear on the scan tool.

One or more PCM DTCs appear on the scan tool. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Engine Controls - 4.6L.

Perform the fault isolation test. Refer to Fault Isolation Test .

The cruise control system operates as stated in the fault isolation test procedure.

The cruise control system does not pass the fault isolation test. Refer to Cruise Control System Check .
