1. Use a Scan Tool in order to choose the cellular telephone options and observe the hands free state screen. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
2. Connect a Scan Tool to the data link connector (DLC).
3. Attempt to make a hands free call.

Does the Scan Tool indicate active for the hands free state?

1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
2. Disconnect the hands free microphone from the harness connector.
3. Disconnect the cellular telephone module harness connector.
4. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
5. In order to set to DC scale and measure the voltage between the cellular telephone module harness connector terminals A and F, use a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM).

Is battery voltage present?

Ensure that the handset is properly docked.

Is the handset properly docked?

1. Inspect all of the connector terminals.
2. If the terminals are OK, replace the cellular telephone handset interface.

Is the repair complete?

Use a J 39200 DMM set to OHMS scale in order to inspect for continuity between the cellular telephone module connector  terminal F and the microphone connector terminal B.

Is continuity present?

Repair the short to the battery on CKT 655 (GRY). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Use the J 39200 DMM in order to inspect for continuity between the cellular telephone module connector terminal G and the microphone connector terminal A.

Is continuity present?

Repair the open in CKT 655 (GRY). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the microphone.
