Was the Headlight System Check performed?

  1. Remove the DRL relay from the underhood relay center.
  2. Test CKT 592 (GRN/BLK) (Deville) or CKT 352 (GRN/BLK) (Eldorado) for a short to ground.

Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is the circuit OK?

Go to Step 3

Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) from pin B9 to pin A7 of the DRL relay.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

20 ohms

Go to Step 8

  1. Connect a Scan Tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  2. Inspect the powertrain control module (PCM) TR switch input B.
  3. Does the input show low with the transmission in PARK?

Inspect CKT 772 (YEL) for an open. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 772 OK?

Disconnect the park/neutral position (PNP) switch.

Does the scan tool TR switch input B now show high?

Repair the short to ground in the appropriate circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the DRL relay.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the body control module (PZM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Repair the short to ground in CKT 772 (YEL). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the park/neutral position (PNP) switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement in Automatic Transaxle-4T80-E.
