Dimmer Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle Column Shift
Tools Required
J 41352 Modular
Column Holding Fixture
- The turn signal switch assembly must be in the "UP"
position.
Important: The column must be in the 12 o'clock position.
To align the steering shaft assembly to the 12 o'clock position.
Turn the key to the off/lock position. Pull the key out and turn the steering
shaft untill you hear a click.
- Put the steering column
in J 41352
.
- Pop the wire harness assembly out of the wire harness strap (1).
- Check steering column for accident damage. Refer to
Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection - Off Vehicle
.
- Disconnect the dimmer
switch connector from the dimmer switch assembly (3).
- Remove the hexagon nut (5) from the dimmer switch assembly (4).
- Remove the dimmer switch rod (2).
- Remove the torx washer head screw (1).
- Remove the dimmer switch assembly (3).
- Remove the dimmer switch mounting stud (5).

- Disconnect the dimmer
switch connector from the dimmer switch assembly (2).
- Remove the hexagon nut (4) from the ignition switch assembly (1).
- Remove the dimmer switch rod (5).
- Remove the torx washer head screw (3).
- Remove the dimmer switch assembly (2).
