Removal Procedure
- Remove the left closeout/insulator
panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
.
- Remove the accelerator controls cable (1) from the accelerator
controls pedal (2).
- Remove the accelerator controls cable retainer (3).
- Squeeze accelerator controls cable cover tangs and push cable
through dash panel (bulkhead).
- Remove the accelerator
controls cable from the accelerator controls cable bracket. Note: Cruise throttle
cam not shown.
- Hold the throttle valve
open completely.
- Push the accelerator controls cable (1) toward the intake manifold
(2) until released.
Important: Do Not kink accelerator controls cable. Do Not use a screwdriver or
other sharp tool for removing cable.
- Remove the accelerator controls cable at the throttle body lever
(3).
Installation Procedure
Notice: In order to prevent possible interference and damage, flexible components
(hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) must not be routed within 50 mm (2 in)
of moving parts, unless the routing is positively controlled.
Important: Accelerator cable must be routed through groove in throttle body lever
and seated securely.
- Hold the throttle valve
open completely.
- Push the accelerator controls cable (1) into the throttle body
lever (2).
Notice: Route the accelerator cable through the groove in throttle body lever.
Securely seat the accelerator cable.
- Pull accelerator controls cable until a snap is heard, indicating
that the accelerator cable is seated.
- Throttle valve shown open.
- Disconnect and connect the cruise control cable the same way.
- Route the accelerator controls cable under brake master cylinder
and through the dash panel (bulkhead).
- Secure the retainer at the dash.
- Secure the cable at the accelerator controls pedal.
Important: Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating
accelerator controls pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator
controls pedal. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full
closed and wide open throttle.
- Check for a complete throttle opening and closing positions.
- Install the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
.
