This bulletin is being revised to provide additional information in the last Important statement. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-08-70-001 (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).
Customers may come in with one of the following conditions:
• | Condition 1 -- Some customers may comment that the "Service Lane Departure" message is displayed on the DIC. Upon investigation, no DTCs are stored in the Vehicle Direction Alert Alarm Warning (VDAAW) module. |
• | Condition 2 -- Technicians may find DTC B0987 set in the VDAAW module with or without the Service Lane Departure message displayed on the DIC. |
• | Condition 3 -- Technicians may find DTC B1000 36 set in the VDAAW module. |
Condition 1 may be caused by an integration issue between the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and the VDAAW module.
Conditions 2 and 3 may be caused by a software malfunction in the VDAAW module.
Important: DO NOT replace the VDAAW module.
A revised VDAAW calibration and operating software has been developed to address all three concerns. Reprogram the VDAAW module and operating software with an updated software calibration. This new service calibration is available on TIS2WEB using the Service Programming System (SPS).
Important: Use ONLY the Tech 2®/CANDi module to reprogram. DO NOT use the MDI. Using the MDI will result in a failure to reprogram. After programming, the vehicle VIN information will not be immediately learned by the VDAAW. This is normal. The vehicle VIN will automatically learn after 250 ignition cycles. This process is transparent to the customer and will cause no concern.
After the SPS programming is complete, initiate and complete VDAAW module calibration process using the Tech2®. As always make sure your Tech2® is updated with the latest software version.
