Condition: On a 1987 Chevrolet Cavalier Z-24 with LB6 2.8L V-6 engine and digital gauges the oil pressure warning light may flicker at idle, even though the oil pressure gauge is operating correctly. These vehicles have both a gauge and a warning light.
Cause: An oil pressure sender with a high trigger point and a warning light with a low trigger point may cause a flicker at low oil pressure (idle), even though the oil pressure is within specifications.
Repair: Install a new oil pressure sender, P/N 10068576.
Warranty Information: use existing Labor operations.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
