Please review this updated service information relating to Serviceman Bulletin T82-25A, titled 1982 Cimarron Cold Starting Difficulties - Special Policy.
A. Step 6 on page 2 incorrectly lists the secondary vacuum break adjustment specification at 370.
Step 6 should read:
Check secondary vacuum break operation. If adjustment is required, set at 270. Refer to Figure 4 for adjustment procedure.
B. Early production Cimarron carburetors were equipped with tamper resistant features on the vacuum breaks. When performing steps 3 and 6, primary and secondary vacuum break adjustments, on carburetors with tamper resistant features, proceed as follows:
1. Using a pair of medium sized diagonal cutters, firmly place cutters perpendicular to and directly above one of the retaining crimps.
2. Keeping one jaw stationary, close the cutters making the free jaw cut through the retaining crimp.
3. Severing two of these crimps will free the tamper-resistant cap from the vacuum break.
OTHER PROCEDURES, I.E., PRYING WITH A SCREWDRIVER, CAN DAMAGE THE VACUUM BREAK CAUSING AN INTERNAL BIND THAT MAY NOT BE EVIDENT EXTERNALLY.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
