EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKING NEW MANIFOLD AVAILABLE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1982 CIMARRON WITH 1.8L L4 ENGINE

Some 1982 Cimarrons may experience a cracked exhaust manifold when subjected to high temperature and high load conditions. To correct this condition, a new exhaust manifold assembly has been released under the old part number (P/N 14018756) which is now available through GMWDD.

Replacement of the new exhaust manifold assembly requires a change in the outer bolt torque specification (#1 and #4 runners). These four bolts should be torqued to 15-20 N.m (11-15 lbs. ft.). This torque change should be noted on page 6A-25 of the 1982 Cimarron Service Information Manual.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
