For 1990-2009 cars only
- Assemble the input sprag retaining washers (649) and the cage assembly (650) onto the sun gear (646). The flared shoulder of the sprag cage faces upward.
- Install the input sprag race (647) over the sprag cage (650).
- Hold the sun gear with your left hand. The sprag race should hold firmly when turned in a clockwise direction with your right hand. The sprag race should rotate freely when turned in a counterclockwise direction with your right hand.
Important: This procedure must be followed exactly to be sure that the sprag assembly is installed properly.
