Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Support the exhaust system.
  3. Remove the resonator insulator hangers.
  4. Remove the right and the left muffler insulator hangers.
  5. Lower the exhaust system with the support to access the exhaust heat shield nuts.

  6. Object Number: 231174  Size: SH
  7. Remove the heat shield nuts.
  8. Remove the heat shield.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heat shield.

  2. Object Number: 231174  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the heat shield nuts to the heat shield.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the heat shield nuts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. using the support raise the exhaust system to the original position.
  6. Install the right and the left muffler insulator hangers.
  7. Install the resonator insulator hangers.
  8. Remove the support from the exhaust system.
  9. Inspect the exhaust system clearances.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
