Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 229079  Size: SH
  1. Remove the compressor from the vehicle. Refer to Air Compressor Replacement .
  2. Remove the bolts retaining the air dryer and retaining the bracket to the compressor.
  3. Perform the following steps to remove the air dryer from the cylinder casting:
  4. 3.1. Release the clip.
    3.2. Rotate the air dryer.
    3.3. Pull the air dryer to remove.
  5. Remove the seal from the cylinder casting.

Installation Procedure

  1. Use petroleum jelly to lightly lubricate the seal.
  2. Install the seal to the cylinder casting.
  3. Perform the following steps to install the air dryer to the cylinder casting:
  4. 3.1. Slide the air dryer into the cylinder casting.
    3.2. Rotate the air dryer into the proper position.
  5. Install the clip to the air dryer fitting.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the air dryer bracket bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the air dryer bracket bolts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  9. Install the compressor to the vehicle. Refer to Air Compressor Replacement .
