Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

    3. Object Number: 219473 Size: SH
  3. Remove the brake lining sensor clip (1) from the front brake hose (2).

    4. Object Number: 219454 Size: SH
  4. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting to remove the front brake caliper pipe (1) from the front brake hose (3). Ensure not to bend the bracket or to bend the brake pipe.
  5. Remove the brake pipe retainer (2) from the front brake hose (3).
  6. Remove the front brake hose from the mounting bracket.
  7. Remove the retaining clip from the front brake hose at the strut.
  8. Remove the front brake hose from the strut guide.

  9. Clean any dirt and/or foreign material from the hose and fitting.

    10. Remove the front brake hose bolt (3) from the front brake caliper.

  10. Remove the front brake hose (1) with the seals (2) from the front brake caliper.
  11. Discard the seals.

Installation Procedure
  1. Use brake fluid to lubricate the front brake hose bolt threads.

    2. Object Number: 219477 Size: SH
  2. Install the front brake hose (1) and the NEW seals (2) to the front brake caliper. Ensure the front brake hose fitting flange engages the front brake caliper orientation ledge.

    3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the front brake hose (3) bolt to the caliper.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the front brake hose bolt to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  4. Install the front brake hose to the strut guide.
  5. Install the retaining clip to the front brake hose at the strut guide.
  6. Install the brake hose to the mounting bracket.

  7. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting to install the brake pipe retainer (2) to the front brake hose (3).

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the brake caliper pipe (1) to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  8. Install the brake lining wear sensor clip (1) to the front brake hose (2).
  9. Ensure the hose does not contact any part of the suspension. Inspect hose clearance in the extreme right and the extreme left turn conditions.
  10. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  11. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
