Memory Seat System Components

The memory seat system consists of the following components:

    • Driver seat adjuster switch
    • Memory seat module
    • Driver seat front vertical adjuster motor
    • Driver seat horizontal adjuster motor
    • Driver seat rear vertical adjuster motor
    • Driver seat recliner adjuster motor
    • CLAMP 15 CRUISE 15A fuse
    • PWR SEAT 30A fuse

Memory Seat System Controls

The memory seat system is controlled by the following components:

    • Driver seat adjuster switch
    • Memory seat module

Memory Seat Operation

The memory seat module controls all of the memory seat functions through the use of inputs and outputs which are hardwired to the module. The keyword 82 serial data circuit provides a communication line between the module and a scan tool and is used for diagnostic purposes and module programing only.

The memory seat module controls the seat adjuster motors by providing voltage and ground through the adjuster motor supply circuits. The seat adjuster motors are reversible and the direction travel is determined by of the polarity of the supply circuits. The memory seat module uses position sensors for storing and recalling memory seat position settings. The position sensors are internal parts of the adjuster motors. The memory seat module provides a 5 volt reference circuit and a low reference circuit to each of the position sensors, and monitors position sensor signal voltages which vary from 0 to 5 volts depending on the seat position.

The memory seat module monitors resistance through the driver seat adjuster switch. Switch inputs to the memory seat module are determined by continuity through a combination of driver seat adjuster switch circuits. Driver seat adjuster switch circuits are shared among individual switches, this limits the ability of the memory seat module to interpret simultaneous switch inputs.
