Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 163026 Size: SH
  1. Remove the front fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  2. Remove the rocker molding. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  3. Tape the fender and tape the door edges to protect the paint from chipping.
  4. Remove the front fender liner. Refer to Fender Liner Replacement .
  5. Support the hood.
  6. Remove the hood strut from the fender. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement .
  7. Remove upper fender bolts.

  8. Remove the side fender bolts.
  9. Remove the fender.
  10. Transfer the hood bumper.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 163058 Size: SH
  1. Undercoat the underside of the fender prior to installation. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair in Paint/Coatings.
  2. Install the fender. Refer to Front Fender Body Side Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim if the fender was replaced.
  3. Adjust the fender-to-hood clearance (1) to 5 mm ± -1 mm.
  4. Adjust the fender-to-front door clearance (2) to 5 mm ± 1 mm.

  5. Install the fender side bolts.

    6. Object Number: 349255 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the upper fender bolts.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the fender bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  7. Install the hood strut to the fender. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement .
  8. Remove the hood support.
  9. Install the front fender liner. Refer to Fender Liner Replacement .
  10. Install the rocker molding. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  11. Install the front fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
