Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position.
  3. Verify that the park lamps are inoperative.

Are all the park lamps operating properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Determine which park lamps are inoperative.

Are all the park lamps inoperative?

Go to Step 4

  1. Use the scan tool in order to turn on the park lamps.
  2. Select PARK LAMPS from the Light Test Menu under Special Functions on the scan tool.
  3. With the ignition on, press the ON button and the OFF button on the scan tool in order to turn the park lamps on and off.
  4. Monitor the scan tool while pressing the ON and OFF buttons. The scan tool can tell you the status of the BCM when either the ON or OFF button has been pressed.

Do the park lamps turn ON when commanded by the BCM?

Test the switch side feed of the park lamp relay for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the park lamp supply voltage circuit of the park lamp relay for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the park lamp On/Off circuit for an open or high resistance or short to B+ . Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

    • The RH front park lamp rear license lamp supply voltage circuit
    • The RH outside taillamp supply voltage circuit

Repair an open or high resistance in the LH park lamp supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

    • The LH front park lamp rear license lamp supply voltage circuit
    • The LH outside taillamp supply voltage circuit

Repair the open or high resistance in the inside taillamp ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Locate and repair a short to ground in the following circuits. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems:

    • The rear license lamps supply voltage circuit
    • The front side marker supply voltage circuit
    • The inside taillamps supply voltage circuit

Repair an open or high resistance in the RH park lamp supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the park lamp relay K130.

Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .

Replace the inoperative lamp. Refer to the appropriate procedure:

    • Replace the LH park/turn signal lamp. Refer to Park/Turn Signal Lamp Bulb Replacement .
    • Replace the inoperative taillamp. Refer to Tail Lamp Bulb Replacement .

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were previously disconnected.
  2. Verify that the park lamps operate properly.
