Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Verify the proper operation of the following lighting systems:

    • The low beam headlamps
    • The twilight sentinel feature
    • The daytime running lamps

Are these lighting systems operating properly?

Go to Step 3

Test the headlamps required indicator bulb for an open.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Place the twilight sentinel switch to the OFF position.
  4. Cover the headlamp automatic control ambient light sensor.
  5. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  6. Shift the transaxle out of the PARK position.
  7. Probe the headlamps required indicator control circuit of the instrument cluster connector with a test lamp that is connected to battery voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Repair an open or high resistance in the headlamps required indicator control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 7

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 7

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were disconnected.
  2. Verify that the headlamps required indicator operates properly.

Does the headlamps required indicator operate properly?

System OK
