Did you review Seat Belt System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Seat Belts

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Note the SEAT BELT indicator while turning ON the ignition.

Does the SEAT BELT indicator remain OFF at all times?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Disconnect the seat belt switch connector.
3. Test the seat belt switch signal circuit for an open or a high resistance.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 4

Test the seat belt switch for an open or a high resistance.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 5

Test the seat belt switch ground circuit for an open or a high resistance.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

Replace the gauge cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 7

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
