Did you perform the Radio/Audio System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Insert a CD magazine with at least 1 audio CD into the remote CD changer.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn ON the radio.
  4. Play the CD in the remote CD changer.

Does the remote CD changer play without noise?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Is noise present only on one channel?

Go to Step 4

Test the output circuit of the suspect channel for a short, high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the shield wire circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the CD common circuit for a short, high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the audio harness shield for damage.

  1. Disconnect the remote CD changer connector.
  2. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the remote CD changer. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the remote CD changer.
