Schematic Reference: Interior Lights Schematics

DEFINITION: The illuminated entry feature is inoperative with the ignition in LOCK during one or all of the following:

    • During Remote Keyless Entry (RKE).
    • When a door is opened.
    • When the door key cylinder switch is UNLOCKED manually.

Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. With the ignition in the OFF position.
  2. Determine if the illuminated entry feature is inoperative in all of the following cases:
  3. • When any door is opened.
    • When the driver door key cylinder lock switch is UNLOCKED manually.
    • During Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) operation.

Is the illuminated entry feature inoperative all cases?

Go to Step 3

  1. Determine if the courtesy lamps operate from the interior lamp switch.
  2. Pull the interior lamp switch in order to turn on the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps operate from the interior lamp switch?

Go to Step 8

Determine which of the following illuminated entry functions is inoperative.

    • Illuminated entry when a door is opened.
    • Illuminated entry when the door key cylinder switch is UNLOCKED manually.

Is the illuminated entry feature inoperative when one or all of the doors are opened?

Determine if the illuminated entry feature is inoperative when one door is opened or when all doors are opened.

Is the illuminated entry feature inoperative when all doors are opened?

Test for an open or high resistance in the inoperative door jamb signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 15

  1. If the illuminated entry feature is inoperative with the driver door key cylinder lock switch UNLOCKED.
  2. Test for an open or high resistance in inoperative key disarm input circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn the ignition to the RUN position, with the engine off.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the door jamb switch input parameter.
  3. Open and close each door while observing the scan tool.

Does the door jamb switch input parameter change for all doors?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn the ignition to the RUN position, with the engine off.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the key disarm input.
  3. Turn the drivers door lock key switch.

Does the key disarm input parameter change?

Go to Step 15

Test for a short to ground in the door jamb signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a short to ground or a short to B+ in the key disarm input circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the door jamb signal circuit at the BCM . Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative driver door key lock switch. Refer to Theft Deterrent Door Lock Switch Replacement in Doors.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 15

Replace the inoperative door jamb switch. Refer to Door Jamb Switch Replacement in Doors.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 15

  1. Connect all connector and components that were disconnected.
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Does the system operate properly?

System OK
