Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Disconnect the IP compartment lamp.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Probe the supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 3

Probe the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp connector with a test lamp that is connected to B+.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

  1. Remove the IP compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Probe the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp switch connector with a test lamp that is connected to B+.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

  1. Install the IP compartment lamp.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the I/P compartment switch ground circuit and the I/P compartment switch signal circuit of the IP compartment lamp switch connector.

Does the IP compartment lamp turn ON?

Go to Step 9

Repair an open or high resistance in the I/P compartment lamp supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 11

Repair an open or high resistance in the I/P compartment lamp switch ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the I/P compartment switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the IP compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Replace the IP compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were previously disconnected.
  2. Verify that the IP compartment lamp operates properly.

Does the IP compartment lamp operate properly?

System OK
