Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that hazard lamps are inoperative.

Are the hazard lamps operating properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step  3

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Operate the turn signal switch.

Do the turn signals operate properly?

Go to Step  4

Go to Turn Signal Lamps and/or Indicators Inoperative

Determine if all the hazard lamps are inoperative, the LH hazard lamps are inoperative, or the RH hazard lamps are inoperative.

Are all the hazard lamps inoperative?

Go to Step  5

Go to Step  7

  1. Disconnect the hazard warning switch.
  2. Probe the battery voltage circuit (A9) of the hazard warning switch connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step  6

  1. Disconnect the turn signal lamp flasher K10.
  2. Test the turn signal flasher signal circuit (FM22) of the hazard warning switch for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Are the LH hazards lamps inoperative?

Go to Step  8

Test the hazard switch LH signal circuit (FM3) for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step  13

Test the hazard switch RH signal circuit (FU3) for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step  13

Repair an open or high resistance in the battery supply voltage circuit (A9) of the hazard warning switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step  13

Replace the hazard warning switch. Refer to Hazard and Turn Signal Flasher Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were previously disconnected.
  2. Verify that the hazard lamps operate properly.

Do the hazard lamps operate properly?

System OK
