The HVAC Scan Tool Data Definitions contains a brief description of all HVAC related parameters available on the scan tool. The list is in alphabetical order. A given parameter may appear in any one of the data lists. In some cases, the parameter may appear more than once or in more than one data list in order to group certain related parameters together.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- AC-Cutout: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents whether the PCM is allowing A/C compressor operation.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- A/C Request: The scan tool displays Yes or No. Represents whether A/C operation is being requested by the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- A/C Switch: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the status of the A/C switch on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Air Circulation Valve: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current state of the air circulation motor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Air Outlet Mode: This data represents the selected air discharge mode. The positions are displayed as follows:

    • Auto -- The heater and A/C control controls all HVAC air flow.
    • Compartment -- The air flows from the 4 upper vents.
    • Compart/Floor -- The air flows from the 4 panel vents and the 2 floor vents.
    • Defrost -- The air flows from the defrost vent at the top of the instrument panel.
    • Defrost/Floor -- The air flows from the defrost vent at the top of the instrument panel and the 2 floor vents.
    • Floor -- The air flows from the 2 floor vents.
Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Auto Switch: The scan tool displays On or Off. Represents the current status of the auto switch on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Battery Voltage: The scan tool displays 0.0-24.0 Volts. Represents the voltage at the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Blower Controller Voltage: The scan tool displays 0.0-5.0 Volts. Represents the PWM voltage output of the blower motor control processor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Blower Motor Status: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current state of the blower motor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Blower Speed Dec. Sw.: The scan tool displays On or Off. Represents the current status of the blower speed decrease switch on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Blower Speed Inc. Sw.: The scan tool displays On or Off. Represents the current status of the blower speed increase switch on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Calc. Left Air Out Temp: The scan tool displays -40° to 60°C (-40° to 140°F). Represents the target air temperature of the left air distribution duct.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Calc. Right Air Out Temp: The scan tool displays -40° to 60°C (-40° to 140°F). Represents the target air temperature of the right air distribution duct.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Def. Air Mix Door Mot.: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current state of the defrost air mix motor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Def. Air Mix Door Pos.: The scan tool displays 0-100%. Represents the position of the defrost air mix motor, with the defroster OFF being 0%, and the defroster ON being 100%.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Defrost Switch: The scan tool displays On or Off. Represents the current status of the defrost switch on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Desired Left Temp: The scan tool displays 15° to 32°C (65° to 90°F). Represents the left discharge air temperature selected on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Desired Right Temp: The scan tool displays 15° to 32°C (65° to 90°F). Represents the right discharge air temperature selected on the heater and A/C control. When dual zone is off, the desired right temperature will match the desired left temperature.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Dimmed Illumination: With the headlamps ON, the scan tool displays 2-22%. Represents the dimming level on the heater and A/C control, with 2% being the dimmest setting, and 22% being the brightest. With the headlamps OFF, the scan tool will display 100%

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Disp. Outside Temp: The scan tool displays -40° to 60°C (-40° to 140°F). Represents the outside air temperature, as displayed on the heater and A/C control, after compensating for such factors as sun load and vehicle speed.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Engine Status: The scan tool displays Off or Running. Represents the current state of the engine.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Flr. Air Mix Door Mot.: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current state of the floor air mix motor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Flr. Air Mix Door Pos.: The scan tool displays 0-100%. Represents the position of the floor air mix motor, with the floor air OFF being 0%, and the floor air ON being 100%.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Heating Cont. Valve: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current state of the heater control valve, with Active being displayed when the valve is ON.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Inside Air Temp Filt.: The scan tool displays -40° to 60°C (-40° to 140°F). Represents the raw output value of the inside air temperature sensor converted to degrees.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Inside Air Temperature: The scan tool displays -40° to 60°C (-40° to 140°F). Represents the adjusted output value of the inside air temperature sensor converted to degrees.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Inside Temp Sensor: The scan tool displays 0-5.0 Volts. The output of the inside air temperature sensor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Int. Air Mix Door Mot.: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current state of the interior air mix motor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Int. Air Mix Door Pos.: The scan tool displays 0-100%. Represents the position of the interior air mix motor, with interior air mix door OFF being 0%, and the floor air ON being 100%.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Left Air Mix Door Mot.: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current state of the left air mix motor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Left Air Mix Door Pos.: The scan tool displays 0-100%. Represents the position of the left air mix motor, with the left air mix door in the full COLD position being 0%, and the left air mix door in the full HOT position being 100%.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- LH Air Out Temp Act.: The scan tool displays -40° to 150°C (-40° to 300°F). Represents the compensated output value of the left air duct temperature sensor converted to degrees.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- LH Air Out Temp Filt.: The scan tool displays -40° to 150°C (-40° to 300°F). Represents the raw output value of the left air duct temperature sensor converted to degrees.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- LH Air Out Temp Sensor: The scan tool displays 0-5.0 Volts. The output of the left air duct temperature sensor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Mode Down Switch: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current status of the mode down switch on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Mode Up Switch: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current status of the mode up switch on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- On/Off Switch: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current status of the ON/OFF switch on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Outside Air Temp Filt.: The scan tool displays -40° to 60°C (-40° to 140°F). Represents the compensated output value of the outside air temperature sensor converted to degrees.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Outside Temperature: The scan tool displays -40° to 60°C (-40° to 140°F). Represents the raw output value of the outside air temperature sensor converted to degrees.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Outside Temp Sensor: The scan tool displays 0-5.0 Volts. The output of the outside air temperature sensor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Rear Defog Command: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current status of the rear defog switch as commanded by the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Rear Defog Status: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the status of the rear defog system.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Rear Defog Switch: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current status of the rear defog switch on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Recirculation Switch: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current status of the recirculation switch on the heater and A/C control.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- RH Air Out Temp Act.: The scan tool displays -40° to 150°C (-40° to 300°F). Represents the compensated output value of the right air duct temperature sensor converted to degrees.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- RH Air Out Temp Filt.: The scan tool displays -40° to 150°C (-40° to 300°F). Represents the raw output value of the right air duct temperature sensor converted to degrees.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- RH Air Out Temp Sensor: The scan tool displays 0-5.0 Volts. The output of the right air duct temperature sensor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Rt. Air Mix Door Mot.: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the current state of the right air mix motor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Rt. Air Mix Door Pos.: The scan tool displays 0-100%. Represents the position of the right mix motor, with the right air mix door in the full COLD position being 0%, and the right air mix door in the full HOT position being 100%. With the dual zone off, the right air mix door will match the left air mix door.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Solar Intensity: The scan tool displays 0-1000 W/m² (watts per square meter). Represents the compensated output value of the solar sensor converted to intensity.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Solar Sen. Int. Filt.: The scan tool displays 0-1000 W/m² (watts per square meter). Represents the raw output value of the solar sensor converted to intensity.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Solar Sen. Solar Intensity: The scan tool displays 0-5.0 Volts. The output of the solar sensor.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Twilight Output: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the intensity of the ambient light.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Twilight Sensor Voltage: The scan tool displays voltage. Represents the intensity of the ambient light.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Vehicle Speed: The scan tool displays 0-249 km/h (0-155 mph. The output from the vehicle speed sensor. This value is used to calculate the outside air temperature when the vehicle is moving.

Heater and A/C Control -- Data List -- Zone Mode Switch: The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. Represents the status of the Zone Mode switch on the heater and A/C control.
