Removal Procedure
- Remove the IP carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the IP support bracket bolts.
- Remove the IP support bracket.
- Disconnect the defroster actuator electrical connector (2).
- Remove the defroster actuator screws.
- Disconnect the defroster actuator from the linkage.
- Remove the defroster actuator.
Important: The actuator linkage may need to be rotated to access the screws for the following step.
Installation Procedure
- Install the defroster actuator (2).
- Connect the defroster actuator to the linkage.
- Install the defroster actuator screws.
- Connect the defroster actuator electrical connector.
- Install the IP support bracket.
- Install the IP support bracket bolts.
- Install the IP carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Recalibrate the actuators. Refer to Re-Calibrating Actuators After Power Loss .
Important: The actuator linkage may need to be rotated to access the screw holes for the following step.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
