J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
17.1. | Drain the oil from both the suction and discharge ports of the removed compressor into a clean container. |
17.2. | Remove the compressor crankcase oil drain bolt (1) and drain the crankcase oil from the removed compressor into the same container. |
17.3. | Measure and record the amount of oil drained from the removed compressor. |
This measurement will be used during installation of the replacement compressor.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
If replacing the compressor use the following oil fill procedure.
• | Remove the compressor crankcase drain plug |
• | Add the PAG oil through the compressor drain hole |
• | Install the compressor drain plug |
• | Tighten the compressor drain plug. |
Tighten
Tighten the drain plug to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
• | Use new seal washers. |
• | Lubricate the seal washers with mineral oil, 525 viscosity. |
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
