Does the engine coolant temperature gauge operate properly?

Go to Step 3

Go to Engine Coolant Temperature Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the engine coolant temperature indicator on the instrument cluster (IPC) during the bulb check.

Does the engine coolant temperature indicator illuminate during the bulb check and then turn OFF?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 4

Important: Program the replacement instrument cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Programming/Synchronization

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
